HADRIAN'S WALL WALK

On 29th May, Alison O'Neil (Winn) will set out on her tod to walk 84 miles of Hadrian's Wall in 5 days. Firstly because she always wanted to and secondly to hopefully raise some money for charity.
Any money raised will be divided between Cystic Fibrosis and the Breast Cancer campaign.
The walk is such a small challenge compared to the challenge that Cystic Fibrosis and Breast Cancer sufferers face each day and if Alison can help in any way, it might just make a difference.
If anyone wishes to sponsor Alison, please contact her on 015396 20134.

SOUTH LAKELAND DISTRICT COUNCIL

Recycling News 4th April
During the last six months we have gradually increased the number of plastic recycling banks in the district. We have now added more banks at Lake Road, Coniston, Berners Close, Grange and the Asda and Morrisons stores in Kendal. These banks can all be used for household plastic bottles and containers, such as drink bottles, yoghurt pots, shampoo bottles and food trays. Please remember to wash the plastic and squash it wherever possible. Each plastic bank also has a section for plastic bags, which can also be used for the plastic envelopes that magazines are sometimes delivered in.
We have also installed cardboard recycling banks at the following sites:

  • Joss Lane, Sedbergh
  • Booths, Kirkby Lonsdale
  • Asda, Kendal
  • Morrison's, Kendal
These can be used for all types of clean cardboard, again please squash or flatten the cardboard to minimise the amount of space taken. We publish the amount of waste collected each month on our website, if you would like to see how much we collect in the new banks log on at www.southlakeland.gov.uk
If you have any questions about recycling please contact us either through the Customer Contact Centre on 0845 050 4434 or by emailing us at recycling@southlakeland.gov.uk
  Thank you for recycling.
