SEDBERGH SPRING SHOW RESULTS
10th Annual Show Local MP Tim Farron opened Sedbergh's 10th Annual Spring Show in the People's Hall, judged the fancy dress, and chose the 'Best in Show' for both adults and children. He said that he was glad the latter was not a baby show, as it was so easy to offend! Tim brought his wife and all three children to enjoy the fun of the day. He congratulated the town on achieving such a spectacle of colour and talent, and praised the record number (over 500) high quality entries and all the hard work that had gone into making and staging them. He stressed that such events as these bring the whole community together and were indeed the 'glue' that helped to keep it together. He later presented the many cups, prizes, and trophies to the winners, and a special presentation to Dennis & Jacky Whicker from the town for 20 years of Lookaround. He in turn was thanked by Roger Underwood, our able Master of Ceremonies, and was presented with a panoramic view of the Howgills as a memento of the day. The Sedbergh Town Band's music added to everyone's enjoyment, as did Carolyn Francis' bagpipe and fiddle playing before and during the intervals. The show committee would like to thank all the exhibitors, all those who helped on the day, and all the sponsors whose donations made for such a superb raffle: John & Sue Sowerby, The Sun Inn at Dent, The Bath House, Powell's Fruit Shop, The Bull Hotel, The Red Lion in Sedbergh, Garth Steadman, Sedbergh Chemists, W Milburn & Sons, Bob & Jean Sowerby, the Spar Shop in Sedbergh, Mrs Rita Nicholson, and also those that gave raffle prizes anonymously. A special thank you too, to Les Maddox for the window display on Main Street.
